Great

* Excellent to drive and comfortable for those on board
* Quality interior with good driving position and view
* Extra rear-view mirror means Mum has got eyes in the back of her head

Gripes

* List prices are high (but you are going to haggle, aren’t you?)
* Weak resale value isn't going to help much towards your next car
* Stingily equipped base model has no air-con or CD player
DriveDrive rating - 4 out of 5 stars
Yes please. Taut and controlled around corners, relaxed and quiet on the motorway
ReliabilityReliability rating - 4 out of 5 stars
Build quality feels solid and we'd expect the mechanical bits to keep on working
InsideInside rating - 5 out of 5 stars
Driver is pampered with great seat adjustment, visibility and a super-organised dashboard
SpaceSpace rating - 4 out of 5 stars
Plenty of space, but three rear seats are awkward and heavy to lift out
SafetySafety rating - 3 out of 5 stars
Six airbags as standard but stability control only an option. Good security kit
Standards and extrasStandards and extras rating - 3 out of 5 stars
Go for at least Style trim to get a CD player and air-con, upgrade to Zetec for alloys or Titanium for electric rear windows
