The interior is about as exciting as the small print on a house contents insurance policy. Bland a
Drive Crank up the stereo (and you may well have to), as there’s a fair bit of rumble from the road as you gad along. The diesel engine is a bit of noisy one, compared to other cars in this class
Reliability The HR-V seems well constructed and though you will get road noise in the cabin, there shouldn’t be squeaks and rattles from the interior to add to the annoyance.
Inside Plastic everywhere, which is great if you love that ‘new car’ smell, but rubbish if it all makes you hanker for a nice man-made fabric. Great driving position though!
Space Plenty big enough for four adults, and if you do fold those seats down in the back you could get a considerable amount in. Rear legroom is just fine and there’s plenty of space to stretch out upfront.
Safety Scores well on pedestrian safety and has driver and passenger airbags and anti-lock brakes. We’d like to see bit more done to thwart break-ins.
Standards and extras That plastic inside the cabin means the CR-V is never going to feel posher than posh, but there is a good level of equipment throughout the range.
